This gives me an instant leash, rather than grabbing the collar, to control a volatile dog. I just keep it attached to the collar all the time and can grab it quickly if she becomes triggered by a chaotic energy dog and hold her til the urge is controlled. I've been using these for about 6 months, and the first one got caught on something and broke. Probably a fence while she was hunting.
